When a sleep report reads "inconclusive," or results are "too mild to treat," most clinicians move on.

That's a mistake.

Many of these patients have Upper Airway Resistance Syndrome (UARS). The failure to identify

and treat it can seriously affect their health and quality of life. Clinicians new to sleep medicine often accept the diagnosis from a sleep specialist or PCP

without question. But "mild" doesn't mean harmless. "Inconclusive" doesn't mean normal.
