Meet Dr. Dan Tache, DMD

Dental Sleep Medicine Educator

Most of my career has been spent at the crossroads of orofacial pain, temporomandibular disorders, and sleep-disordered breathing, where dentistry has the opportunity to make a profound difference in patients’ lives.

I’m a graduate of Tufts University School of Dental Medicine and completed an advanced General Dentistry Residency through the VA/University of Texas Dental Branch. Early on, I pursued extensive training in Myofascial Pain Dysfunction, which shaped both my clinical philosophy and my long-standing interest in complex, interdisciplinary cases.

I later established a practice in Houston, Texas focused on TMD, MPD, and sleep apnea, while also serving as an assistant clinical professor, lecturing on orofacial pain and dysfunction. In 1999, my family and I returned home to Appleton, Wisconsin, where I became the first board-certified dentist in Dental Sleep Medicine in the state.

Today, my work is grounded in Dental Sleep Medicine and Orofacial Pain, with a strong belief that the best outcomes come from collaboration between dentists, physicians, and allied healthcare providers. I’m especially passionate about supporting clinicians who are integrating sleep medicine into their practices and helping elevate standards of care across the field.

Areas of focus include:
• Dental Sleep Medicine
• Obstructive Sleep Apnea therapy
• Temporomandibular Disorders (TMD)
• Myofascial Pain Dysfunction (MPD)
• Orofacial pain diagnosis and management

Outside of dentistry, I’m a husband, father of four, classical guitar player, and woodcarver; creative pursuits that mirror the precision, patience, and craftsmanship I value in clinical care.

If you’re a dental or medical professional interested in clinical discussion, collaboration, or the future of dental sleep medicine, I’d welcome the opportunity to connect and learn from one another.
